Are you ready to embark on a creative journey and discover the art of wood carving? Join our exclusive "Beginners Wood Carving Workshop 2024" and learn the fundamentals of low relief carving from two of Barbados' most esteemed carving experts, Ashanti Trotman and Marlon Waterman.

Date: - August 11 – September 29, 2024
Days & Times: - Sundays, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Duration: Workshop (8) eight weeks, (4) four hours per session. Fee: BDS$1,700 (payment plan available)
Location: Mahogany Mound – Valley Island Farm, Salters, St. George Registration: Limited to five (5) persons

Participants will immerse themselves in a comprehensive curriculum that progresses from introductory concepts to advanced techniques, culminating in a public exposure of their creations and includes the following:

Venue: The Wood Carving Workshop 2024 is held at the Mahogany Mound Workshop, an outdoor 40ft. Container space at Valley (Plantation) Farm, Valley, St. George.
• Participants are required to bring (3) basic chisels (1/4”/ 1/2” / & 1”) • Dress: Long pants casual, bring water & refreshments

Ashanti Trotman With over fifty years of sculpting experience, Ashanti is a revered artist, cultural practitioner, and project manager. Ashanti’s dedication to the sustainable use of Barbados' mahogany tree and his lifetime award-winning contribution to the arts, have cemented his status as a leading figure in the Barbadian Arts community. His passion for excellence, teaching and inspiring many over the years ensures you will receive top-notch guidance and support as you start your carving journey.
Marlon Waterman Marlon Waterman, director of Kreative Karving, is a versatile artist with over twenty-five years of experience in sculpting. Known for his exceptional skill in Food Art, Marlon graduated from The Barbados Community College Hospitality Institute (Pommarine) as the Most Outstanding Participant. With twelve years of experience as a Food Art Instructor and international recognition for his fruit, vegetable, and ice carvings, Marlon’s innovative approach to teaching makes learning carving fun and accessible for beginners.
